Having already signed a Spaniard (Pau Gasol) and imported a Serb (Nikola Mirotic) to join a roster populated with the likes of Kirk Hinrich and Mike Dunleavy, one might believe that the last thing the Chicago Bulls needed on draft night was another white guy (heck – even our colorful center is half Frenchman, half Swedish beauty queen!).
In walks Doug McDermott.
Slow feet, solid fundamentals, a nice shot, a “Mc” in his name, a coach for a father and a collegiate history in Nebraska....he’s not white, he’s translucent!
But he’s also a great guy with a great work ethic and college player-of-the-year credentials, so we’ll try to overlook the fact that he’s not particularly athletic and helps make the Bulls' roster look ready for the 1958 season. In fact, we’re gonna try to spice up the lad’s profile with this goofy new design that imagines him getting down with the street dance that shares his name – McDermott is DOING THE DOUGIE!
Fingers in the hair, crotch-grab, Chicago’s newest blue-collar hero is ready to bring it! Of course we know that epidermal pigmentation has nothing to do with one’s playing ability or skill set – we’d love these Bulls if they were all green so long as they play hard and reflect Coach Thibs’ determination! We're just having fun with the newest face on the franchise and he dance moves we all love.
