Ian Happ doesn’t like smiling, but he loves waffles – both the batter-based breakfast treat and the hard hit balls that Cub sluggers “waffle” out of the yard. Thus lies the foundation for the lovable Chicago Cubs’ latest dugout goof – the waffle maker!
Happ-y is on record for loving breakfast food and apparently spent his own money to buy a waffle iron for the clubhouse...a prop he then brought into the dugout to celebrate homers “waffled” by the likes of Javy Baez. When the appliance broke, fans sent Happ some new ones, and the day they arrived he went yard himself!
